The Beginning
Look, I'll be honest with you - this whole thing started in my dad's garage back in '98. I was maybe sixteen, and he'd just brought home this beat-up '87 BMW 325i that nobody else wanted to touch. Thing leaked more oil than it held, but man... something about that inline-six just spoke to me.
Fast forward a couple decades, and here we are. Started Lumare Tharcanum after spending years working at dealerships where they'd just throw parts at problems instead of actually diagnosing 'em. Got tired of that approach real quick.
The name? Yeah, it's a bit unusual. Wife thought I was crazy, but there's something about those old Latin words that captures what we're really about - bringing light to the mysterious, arcane side of these European machines. They're complicated, sure, but once you understand them, they're absolutely brilliant.
We opened our doors in Vancouver back in 2012 with just three bays and a dream. Now we've got eight bays, a dedicated restoration space, and a team that actually gives a damn about getting things right the first time.
